Sambanistas Inc are a not-for-profit community group, which means that anyone can join us. No musical experience is required.
Everyone in our group are volunteers, which means that we can offer low-cost tuition and training, making the group very accessible to join. The fees we charge are to cover the costs of hiring the venue.
Our members have the opportunity to perform at some of the most exciting festivals, events and parties that WA has to offer, which earns us the funds required to cover our operational expenses, such as insurances, instruments and maintenance along with the regular types of costs with running any organisation.
We also have a dedicated group of committee members who volunteer their time and energy into making the group run smoothly. This includes teaching weekly classes and workshops, repairing instruments, making costumes, day-to-day administration, applying for festivals and grants, as well as talking to prospective clients and providing quotes.
Some of the big events that we’ve played at in the past include the Fringe Festival, Pride Parade, Fairbridge Festival, York Fair, Joondalup Parade and in the past, Fremantle Arts Festival.
We have travelled far and wide to perform and have clocked up more than a few kilometres from remote, regional and metro WA locations to key Samba locations including Brazil, Cardiff and Coburg!
